City of San Diego revised roof access, and ridge setbacks for residential roof solar installations

In 2017 the city of San Diego revised their policy regarding the access and pathways for residential roof solar installations. The city will be approving installations with pv arrays placed all the way up at the ridge when the other side of the ridge has 3′ clear pathway across the roof. See below illustrations that clarify acceptable placement of photovoltaic panels for firefighter safety during ventilation of the roof.
